Frequently Asked Questions

What is the age range for Cooking Caper parties?

We offer parties to children between 4-12 years of age. Parties for 4 and 5 year old children require parental participation.

Where are Cooking Capers parties offered?

Cooking Capers birthday parties are offered in the greater Sacramento area and in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Marin. Weddings and Events are offered in Sacramento, Tahoe and the greater Bay Area.

How long do the parties last?

Parties last about an hour and a half, depending on the age and size of the group. This includes set-up and clean-up time. Add another half an hour for cupcake or party favor add-ons.

Will you use our home's oven to bake the pizzas?

Yes, we will. However, if space is limited or if the event is at a location with no oven, we can bring several large-capacity table top ovens instead. Please contact us for more information regarding this option.

Will our children get dirty?

Perhaps! In order to minimize food on clothing we provide an apron for each child plus a towel for hand wiping. We encourage children to wash their hands several times during the party.

What if my child has a food allergy?

All of our recipes can be modified to fit your child's personal needs. Please don't hesitate to contact us to talk about our alternative recipes.

What is the flow of the party?

We begin by decorating our chef's hats and washing our hands. After making our main meal we all help clean up and set-up for soda making and the decorating activity. The meal is done just as the decorating ends. We'll eat and open presents. The Cooking Caper will stay until the main meal is eaten and will begin to clean up while presents are opened. Party favors take place after presents are opened.

This flow is flexible and we are open to changing it to suit your individual needs.

Can you create a program for our class/group/event?

Absolutely. We can create individualized cooking programs for children of all ages, from a one-time class to a cooking series catering to your individual tastes and needs. Examples of past cooking programs include: Cooking By The Numbers (a math enrichment cooking class), Standard Dinner and Family Sushi Night. Please contact us for more information.

Are you looking for new employees?

Yes. We are looking for individuals who want to run Cooking Capers parties in their neighborhood. Please contact us for more information.

Are you insured?

Cooking Capers carries liability insurance. A full background check is done for each employee that works for us.
